Area students enjoy visit from author Karma Wilson
Thanks to donations from our community, New Kids on the Books was able to bring author Karma Wilson to three area schools this spring and donate over 150 copies of her books–including her latest Bear Feels Sad.

Author Carrie Kruck visits area school and shares a special storytime
We were thrilled to bring author Carrie Kruck to area schools for a special story time of her book, Alfred Blooms as well as donate copies to classrooms and the school media center.


Author Violet Lemay visits local schools
New Kids on the Books brought author Violet Lemay to several schools this April to celebrate reading and her book, A Maker of Dresses. Through donations we were able to give away over 60 copies of her books.


STEM Saturday with the Town of Wake Forest and author Eleanor Spicer Rice
New Kids on the Books celebrated STEM Saturday with the town of Wake Forest and our special guest, author Eleanor Spicer Rice. Eleanor was on hand to sign books and talk to kids about animals–especially those featured in her book The Deadliest: Big Cats.
Hundreds of copes of her book were given away at the event.






Author Eleanor Spicer Rice visits area schools
Thanks to donations, New Kids on the Books was able to bring author Eleanor Spicer Rice to multiple area schools and send those students home with a free copy of her books–The Deadliest: Spider and The Deadliest: Big Cat. During 5 school visits nearly 1,000 books were given to students in kindergarten to fifth grade.


Patricia Tanumihardja visits area preschool
Children’s and cookbook author Patricia Tanumihardja visited students at the Little Chapel Preschool and thanks for your support, we were able to donate copies of her books Ramen for Everyone and The Sugar Plum Bakers.


Kwame Mbalia visits area schools
Thanks to the support of our community, we were able to get nearly 2,000 of best selling author Kwame Mbalia’s books to give to area students–including his latest middle grade novel, Jax Freeman and the Phantom Shriek. Kwame visited with students and shared the joy of reading.



STEM Saturday with the Town of Wake Forest
With help from Page 158 Books, we were able to giveaway 200 copies of Unseen Jungle by Eleanor Spicer Rice, Phd at the Town of Wake Forest STEM Saturday event. We were thrilled to have Eleanor on hand to share the wonder of reading and STEM with the children.


Partnership with Grandma’s Bookshelf to support Duke Children’s
Together with Grandma’s Bookshelf, we were able to donate over 400 books for all ages to kids at Duke Children’s Hospital.

Grandma’s Bookshelf and Page 158 Books were honored to partner to provide new books for these children to enjoy and keep up their skills and interest in reading while away from school. The goal was to raise $1500 in February, with every penny going to purchase books of most need across age groups.
This program is organized in memory of Phoebe Sill, a longtime elementary school librarian, and her son Mark Sill, who passed away at a young age from childhood cancer.





Gift of Reading to Celebrate Wake Forest iSTEM book giveaway
All students at Wake Forest iSTEM Magnet Elementary School got to choose a book to add to their home library. The event was a part of the schools Centennial Birthday Bash. Books were given to over 400 students across all grade levels.



Happy Holidays, Happy Readers
New Kids on the Books is thrilled to see such happy readers at Youngsville Elementary School.
Our non-profit was able to send books home with 1500 students at three elementary schools this holiday season.
We are so thankful for your donations as well as the help from Page 158 Books and Penguin Kids.





Partnership with Grandma’s Bookshelf to support Read and Feed
We are honored to have partnered with Grandma’s Bookshelf by matching their donations. Together, we were able to provide 300 books to the Read and Feed Program.
Grandma’s Bookshelf honors the memory of Phoebe Owen Sill, a long time elementary school librarian.
The Read and Feed program works to “strengthen literacy skills among underserved elementary school children and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment.”





Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club Book Donation
Thanks to the generous donations of used books and funds during our April Used Book Sale at Page 158 Books, we raised over $920 dollars to purchase new books for kids in need. Those funds were used to get nearly 100 new books for the kids at the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club!



STEM Saturday with the Town of Wake Forest
New Kids on the Books joined the town’s STEM event at Joyner Park last Saturday and was able to give away over 225 books. Thank you to author Stacy McAnulty for joining us, signing books and entertaining readers.
Happy reading to all the kids that got a free book to free their mind.

Marvellers and Kwame Mbalia Book Donation to Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club
Thanks to generous donations by the community, New Kids on the Books was able to provide copies of Dhonielle Clayton’s The Marvellers, as well as copies of several of Kwame Mbalia’s books the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club.
